As some of you know, Barb and I moved to Las Cruces, NM, as of 12/2016. The trailer is in storage nearby and ready to go, but in six years of traveling the country, this is the first town that feels like a good home base for us. Many folks our age are downsizing, but we're having a blast moving from a 26' trailer to a four-bedroom house and settling in the high desert.

A pool contractor is coming by tomorrow for a second visit, name of Frank Wells. Turns out he has a 98 year-old aunt still living in Hemet by the name of McAllaster (sp?). He said he may have a cousin named Robert living in Idaho but he's not sure. Ring a bell, Bob? Small world?

Lovely picture, kiddo. Happy Birthday! They don't seem to do marathons in Las Cruces, but if you want to visit anyway, y'all are more than welcome. (We're on the road to Marathon, TX, where they celebrate their marathon with a catfish dinner!)

Hi Iain,

It's super to hear from you! Are you still doing art? I hope so, as I remember your paintings in the RC Fair. As a fellow PCC grad, I hope you're still learning what you learned. I think of you every time I mow our tiny lawn in Las Cruces, NM, because my Aunt Moni preferred the way you mowed her lawn to the way I did it.

Thanks again for checking in.

Hey Bob, thanks for hooking back up! Lots of good memories about you, none less than you tossing bird-shot off the blackboard when Mrs. Elzinga wasn' t looking. (I didn't wonder until this minute how the custodians picked it all up. Tell us more about your career and travels.

Whydoes good news so often come polluted with bad news? Jon Ch is flourishing in Helena; John Cole is having a blast on permanent vacation in a 26' trailer (currently in Allegany State Park, NY, heading for a UH football game in Madison, WI), CL, Anna, and Betsy continue to kick butt with good vibes, but then I learn Pete passed away. Auwe, alas, wormwood and goddammit! He was so smart, so funny, so lively, so unpredictable, and such a good friend! Rest in peace, my spiritual friend.

Few friends in our class stuck together over the decades as well as Mike, G. Figueroa, K Gibbs, and M. McWayne.  Although spread across the country, the four couples kept in close touch and got together every nearly every year.  Ken and Mike are now gone but their good humor and out-and-out goodness will not be forgotten.  We admire their constancy and good natures.

Barb and I sat at the table next to the McWaynes, Figueroas and Triolos at the last reunion and I swear they did not stop laughing the whole time.  Great people, great examples.
